Bethany Caudill, PsyD,
Licensed Psychologist

My approach is psychodynamic, which means focusing on what is happening in the present while also exploring how earlier experiences and relationships may still influence life today. This can help make sense of recurring difficulties in emotions, relationships, and how a person experiences themselves.

I aim to be thoughtful and collaborative in my work, while also being willing to gently challenge familiar ways of seeing oneself or others when it may be helpful. My hope is for therapy to offer a deeper understanding of oneself and one's relationships that can make new ways of thinking, feeling, and relating possible.

Areas of Focus & Specialty

Relationships & Personality

Relationships can bring longstanding patterns into focus, particularly around closeness, trust, vulnerability, and how one experiences oneself in relation to others. I work  with individuals who experience recurring difficulties in relationships, attachment and intimacy, identity and self-esteem, or patterns that persist despite efforts to understand or change them.

Feeling Stuck Despite Doing Well

For high-functioning individuals, it is not uncommon to be successful, capable, and outwardly doing well while privately struggling with anxiety, depression, loneliness, perfectionism, or a persistent sense of dissatisfaction. I work with individuals who may have difficulty understanding why they feel stuck or unfulfilled despite things appearing to be going well in other areas of their lives.

Identity & Belonging

Questions related to identity, relationships, self-acceptance, and belonging, including experiences related to sexual orientation and gender identity. LGBTQ+ affirming care is an important part of my practice.

High-Stress Professions

Concerns related to the unique demands of high-stress professions, including difficulty separating work from personal life, managing vulnerability, and navigating expectations of oneself and others. I have experience working with healthcare providers, veterans, military personnel, first responders, and law enforcement.

Sexuality, Shame & Intimacy

Sexuality can be a source of connection and intimacy, but it can also bring feelings of shame, confusion, or uncertainty. These experiences can be distressing, difficult to understand, or hard to discuss openly. I work with concerns related to sexual thoughts and fantasies, sexual interests, pornography, intimacy, and past sexual experiences.
